Chorus of Courage
Chorus of Courage is a space created to hold and honour the voices and stories of survivors of violence. This project explores the entire spectrum of emotions that are felt through the unique experiences of the ones the project aims to honour – the storytellers.
The stories shared and held at an intimate retreat were given a voice and expression through five songwriters. These songs were captured, recorded, and then sent to five allies who echoed these songs and stories with another song, written in solidarity, creating a powerful musical conversation – a call and response through music and emotion– Chorus of Courage is a fluid conversation that holds the beauty and the horrors of lived experiences– it is an attempt to find some words and meaning, together, as a collective.
I have been a part of the project from the beginning as support and was asked to design the website first, eventually creating the artwork for the album and songs, designing a promotional poster, booklet, video content and then photography for the show.
album artwork
I had the freedom to create artwork for each of the five pairs of songs on the Chorus of Courage album. This was the start of a reawakening of my digital collage muscle that I hadn't flexed in nearly two decades so it was a truly inspiring journey, creatively.
There are similarities in each pair of designs, since the songs are linked as a musical conversation based on a survivor's account of the abuse they endured and bravely shared with the musicians. I wanted there to be elements that carried over from the first song to the second song, so it is intentional.

part of my work for the project has been to create video content for social media. I ventured into creating full-length lyrical videos for some of the songs on the album and this is my latest video for the song Burn It Down, by Cindy Doire.
